Many people are asking themselves why Phakamile Seya died just two weeks before his son Themba is ordained as a minister in St Dunstan's Anglican Cathedral.

Hence his death has come as a shock to the community.

Seya was born on August 5 1950 in Fort Beaufort, Cape Province.

It was his life-long dream to see his son become a priest. He paid for his studies and supported him throughout his endeavours.

A humble character, Seya received his early education at St Albans Missionary School in Benoni and completed matric at Etwatwa High.

He worked for almost 30 years at Standard Telephone Communications in Boksburg.

He was a staunch member of the Anglican Church of Resurrection. He was a member of the Men's Guild for almost the whole of his adult life and was recently inducted into the Men's League.

Seya is survived by two daughters and a son and will be buried tomorrow at the Ekurhuleni East Cemetery after a service at the Anglican Church in Wattville starting at 8:30pm
