Respect judges

The judiciary is the most important component of our democracy.

The judiciary is the most important component of our democracy.

Its duty is to uphold the Constitution and the rule of law in this country.

We are very disturbed by scathing attacks on judges who are even accused of going to court drunk.

The Law Society of South Africa has defended the courts and judges, saying the attacks were aimed at undermining the rule of law.

We support their argument.

The attacks on institutions of justice will indeed undermine the legitimacy of the judiciary.

To lambast judges solely because their ruling is not in one's favour does not mean the judgment is unfair.

Let's respect our judges.
