The GaRankuwa police are looking for Dannyboy "Lekgowa" Boikhutso in connection with various criminal cases, including attempted murder.
Inspector Matthews Nkoadi said Boikhutso, who is about 28 years old, was being sought for escaping from lawful custody.
"He is also wanted for an alleged hijacking in Mabopane in May. In June he escaped from lawful custody after he was arrested for robbery," said Nkoadi.
Boikhutso is also being sought by the Johannesburg police to help them in their investigation into the kidnapping of his ex-girlfriend, who was shot in the head and found dumped in a veld near Langlaagte, Johannesburg, last month.
The woman, from Mabopane, is in a critical condition in hospital.
Nkoadi said Boikhutso could be in Pretoria or Johannesburg.
Anyone with information should call the nearest police station.
