A Vaal woman is a nervous wreck because a criminal is on a shopping spree using her identity document and payslip.

Leah Radebe, 41, of Walkerville, lost her purse, which contained her ID and payslip two years ago. She applied for a new ID and received it the same year.

On June 17 she received a call from Autopage, which wanted to confirm her bank account details.

"They told me someone bought a cellphone in Braamfontein on a contract of R150 a month, including calls," Radebe. said.

She opened a case of fraud at the Sandton police station but the case was transferred to Johannesburg Central as the crimes took place under its jurisdiction.

A week later Radebe received a call from a Cell C outlet in Rosebank, which wanted to confirm the purchase of another cellphone contract.

Radebe went to the shop, where she was shown the fraudulent identity document and payslips.

"The ID had all my details but this woman had removed my picture and pasted in hers."

Last Friday she received an SMS informing her that Vodacom had debited R814 from her account for the phone the woman bought.

"I am scared now because I don't know this woman's next move," Radebe lamented.
