The crunch 10-rounder between Emmanuel "Brown Bomber" Duma and Tshepo "De La Hoya" Mashego for the Gauteng provincial middleweight belt could be a brutal affair.

Their careers are falling apart so they both badly need this belt to revive things. They are both coming off three consecutive defeats.

Duma has lost 11 fights (5 KOs) against 11 wins and a draw.

Mashego has lost nine of his 24 fights, three by way of knockout.

The Duma-Mashego battle will be presented by promoter Xoli Gumede's Ethembeni Boxing Promotions at the Walter Sisulu hall in Ferndale, north of Johannesburg, on August 30.

"This will be a thrill-a-minute affair," promised Gumede, adding that Kayle Bothma and Sifiso Mthethwa's lightweight six-rounder should keep fans on the edge of their seats.

Steve Castle, who drew with Bully Murhava after four bloody rounds in April, will be bakc in the ring. Themba Lesiba (2007 Baby Champs junior featherweight titlist), Owen Mackay and Lumkile November are also on the bill.

Action starts at 7.30pm.
