The Safa Soweto Development Centre in Klipspruit will spring into life when the yearly Philips Zodwa Khoza Memorial Cup finals are held on Women's Day (August 9).

Six teams will take part in the tournament that will be staged at the venue for the fourth year running.

Last year's winners Fabulous Ladies, who will looking for a hat trick of titles, have vowed to win it for the third time and make it their property.

The side's general manager, Abe Cebekhulu said his players were determined to do their best, more so because they will be celebrating Women's Day on Saturday.

"My players are on top form and we're not going to leave any stone unturned on our way to annexing the trophy for the third year running," said Cebekhulu

Sue-Ellen Lucas, account executive of the electronic giants, said they were glad to sponsor the event that brings women from all walks of life together.

"Our relationship with Safa Soweto has grown from strength to strength and we're happy about the partnership.

"We encourage every woman to be part of this event because August 9 is a very special day for us women," she said.

Safa Soweto chairman Phil Mogodi said: "The cup is aimed at raising the standard of women's soccer in the country."

He said the event forms part of a joint venture between Philips and Safa Soweto.

"Everyone is welcome to join us on a day that will be filled with sports and entertainment for the young and old," concluded Mogodi.

Women from surrounding old age homes and children from local schools and orphanages are encouraged to attend.

A lucky draw will be held where everyone stands a chance of winning fantastic prizes.

Teams that will be taking part are Fabulous Ladies, Colchester, Philips Ladies, a team of Safa Soweto coaches and two women's community teams.
