SACE is vital for teachers

All early childhood development (ECD) practitioners must be registered with the South African Council of Educators (SACE), the self-regulatory professional body that ensures that teachers adhere to professional work and behavioural ethics.

All early childhood development (ECD) practitioners must be registered with the South African Council of Educators (SACE), the self-regulatory professional body that ensures that teachers adhere to professional work and behavioural ethics.

This means that not only primary and high school teachers are obliged to register with the council.

The council aims to enhance the status of the teaching profession and to promote the development of teachers and their professional conduct.

No teacher in South Africa can hold down a job without first registering as a member of the council. Once ECD practitioners are registered, they are bound by the SACE's code of professional ethics.
