SuperSport United are equal to the task and will do well in the newly introduced MTN 8 competition this weekend, coach Gavin Hunt feels.
The Absa Premiership champions are aiming for the R8 million winner-takes-all prize in this lucrative competition.
First up for United is a quarterfinal against Orlando Pirates at Johannesburg Stadium on Friday night.
"We're the league champions, the players know what to expect from them. We may be targeted but we'll be up to the challenge," Hunt said.
"It is one of the biggest incentives for the teams because every side will be looking at a bigger picture, the winners' prize.
"But we're also privileged to play in this event and we'll be meeting Pirates in the competition for the first time. So we're ready."
Hunt added that they have only lost three players, Katlego Mphela, Sbusiso Mahlangu and Siboniso Gaxa. He pointed out that Katlego Mashego was back with the club after trials with overseas teams.
Hunt said they have signed Anthony Laffor, Glen Salmon and Noah Chivuta.
Hunt has installed Pirates as favourites and his team as the underdogs.
He said this game was undoubtedly going to be one of the biggest tests for his side, but he believes his players will do very well in this competition.
Matsatsantsa a Pitori are hoping for another bonus after annexing the league championship last season.
"This encounter is a completely different ball game, it needs hard work and concentration. The players are focused for this encounter that is referred to as Wafa-Wafa."
The sides are all gunning for the big prize and regard the R800 000 that will go to the other seven participating teams as small consolation.
"Although most are saying we sold three of our top players, they are unaware that we've also acquired three players and our team is balanced all round," said David Skhosana, United's publicist.
He said the last time they played at the Johannesburg Stadium, there was load shedding: "We hope that this time it will never happen."
