Students at the University of Limpopo's Turfloop campus woke up on Monday morning to a grisly find - a foetus dumped in a rubbish bin in one of the residences, allegedly by a female student.

Lectures came to a halt after cleaners emptying the bins discovered the foetus.

It was not yet known who might have dumped the foetus, the fourth in recent months at the campus but students speculated that it could be any one of a sizeable number of heavily pregnant students on campus.

Mankweng police spokesman Malan Nchabeleng said: "We have recovered four foetuses at the university in recent months.

"We suspect that students were again responsible."
