Government is closely monitoring the construction of infrastructure for the 2010 World Cup so that South Africa is firmly on track with all the preparations for a successful event, said Themba Maseko, government's chief spokesman.

Maseko was speaking at the third 2010 National Communication Partnership Conference in Sandton last Wednesday, a two-day event attended by communications and public relations experts from across the continent.

"All preparations for 2010, including the delivery of infrastructure, are being closely monitored by an interministerial committee that reports to cabinet, to ensure that we do not fail," he said.
