Could it be that his legal team is encouraging Zuma to continue appealing so that the case can be drawn out for as long as possible because the lawyers are benefitting financially from prolonged legal battles and are getting a major portion of the R11million?
Should the case be withdrawn because of political pressure it will not remove the impression that the legal process is bowing to mob rule and that our courts can no longer be trusted to be independent.
The only way to remove that suspicion is for the legal process to run its course. If after that Zuma is found not guilty it will at least be after the legal process had been followed.
There are many people who are concerned that the state is paying millions of rands to cover the legal representation of high-profile public figures who are charged with matters that are not part of their official duties.
Driving under the influence and obstructing the legal process are ordinary criminal charges outside official duties.
