Former Mpumalanga Black Aces coach Kenny Ndlazi has found a new home at another First Division side, Nathi Lions.
Ndlazi, who replaces Mlungisi Ngubane, has signed a two-year contract with the coastal side.
"I'm leaving Johannesburg this afternoon [yesterday] to start my new job with Lions. I will officially hold my first training session with the players tomorrow morning [today]," confirmed Ndlazi.
He said the club directors have mandated him to get the team into the Premiership.
"My priority will be to get the team direct promotion into the Premiership and to be involved in the playoffs will be our second option," said Ndlazi.
He joins Lions after guiding Aces into the inaugural Nedbank Cup final where they lost 0-1 to Mamelodi Sundowns. They beat Lions 2-0 in the quarterfinals.
Well-travelled Innocent Mayoyo has since been roped in the coach of the Mpumalanga side.
"Fortunately I have seen and played against Lions. I know the players and that will be to my advantage. I will spend the next two weeks assessing all the players in the team and then I will make recommendations to the management which players we need to sign and to offload," said the former assistant coach of the South African Under-23 team.
Nathi Maphumulo, Lions owner, confirmed that they have roped in Ndlazi.
"We have seen where we failed last season, that is why we have signed him. In Ndlazi we believe we have caught a big fish," said Maphumulo.
He also confirmed that Ndlazi's assistant will be Lindani Mkhize, who they signed from Coastal Development Academy in Durban.
