Abe Molefe, 77, an Anglican priest who died after a short illness, will be buried at the Westpark Cemetery, Johannesburg, on Thursday after a requiem mass at the Parish Church of St Francis of Assisi in Rockville, Soweto.

A memorial service will be held at the church today at 3pm.

The Mass, which begins at 8am, will be said by the Dean of the Cathedral Church of St Mary the Virgin, the Very Reverend Gerard Sharpe, with the rector of Christ the King, Sophiatown, Reverend Mongezi Guma, preaching a homily.

The family spokesman, Reverend Kagiso Molefe, said his father died last week after suffering a stroke while receiving medical care at the Daxina Medical Hospital, Lenasia.

"My father was a picture of health until he suffered a stroke that killed him. We are sad, but also thankful for the ministry he rendered to his community."

He is survived by his wife, Pauline, and six children.
