Multi-platinum selling singing sensation Katie Melua will return to South Africa for a highly anticipated tour.

The incredibly talented singer will take to the stage at the Big Top Arena, Carnival City, Ekurhuleni, on Thursday September 18. She will then head for the Juventus Grounds at the Botanical Gardens in Durban on Saturday September 20.

On Monday September 22 Melua will be at the Vodacom Indoor Sport Centre in Port Elizabeth. Her last show in Mzansi will be at the Grandwest's Grand Arena in Cape Town on Wednesday September 24.

Unlike most artists Melua's career did not start in church. It came about as a result of British radio station BBC Radio 2's interest in Melua's song The Closest Thing To Crazy in 2003. The song was so big that it entered the charts at number 10 on it's release.

This was soon followed by her debut album, Call Off The Search.

Once again the reception was so great the singer's offering hit the UK number one spot in 2004 and subsequently soared to Top 10 positions throughout Europe.

Her melodic voice sets her apart from her peers. In between charity work as a UN ambassador for Save The Children and her hectic travel schedule, Melua still found time to record her followup album, Piece By Piece.

This CD made Melua the UK's highest selling female artist in 2005.
