Another woman has come forward and laid charges against the alleged Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni, serial rapist after reading about his court appearance in Sowetan, police said yesterday.

Oupa Msiya, 26, appeared before magistrate Hans Havenga in the Vosloorus magistrate's court yesterday for a bail application.

The latest victim brings the number of women who have laid complaints of rape against the man to 17.

Investigating officer Detective Inspector Mokopu Maedi confirmed that the woman came forward on Monday.

"After you published the story the woman came forward. We have added another charge. Now he will face 17 charges of rape and six of kidnapping and we are expecting more women to come forward," he said.

The case was postponed to August 11 to allow Legal Aid Board lawyers time to prepare for his bail application.

Prosecutor Tshitaka Takalani said that the state had a strong case against Msiya.

"He has been positively identified by 13 women. It will take something out of the ordinary for him to get off," he said.

l Meanwhile, a man has pleaded guilty to six counts of indecent assault in the same court yesterday.

The 24-year-old man who cannot be named to protect the identity of his victims indecently assaulted six boys aged between 10 and 11. The man asked his victims to watch movies with him before asking them for sex.

The court heard that the man would smear the boys' thighs with petroleum jelly, and insert his penis until he ejaculated.

He will be sentenced on Monday.
