The two Mpumalanga schools to represent the province in the Mille Cup Under-14 national playoffs will be revealed at the provincial playoffs billed for Thulamahashe Stadium in Bushbuckridge on Saturday.

Both Zacheus Malaza High School and Easthigh Academy, Mpumalanga's representatives at the national playoffs that were staged in KwaZulu Natal last year, failed to make it into the provincial playoffs this year.

Themba Tshabalala, South African Schools Football Association (Sasfa) coordinator, said: "It is interesting to note that all the schools campaigning in these provincial playoffs are new to this level. This might be exciting since we all do not know what to expect."

This weekend's action will be the first stop in the provincial playoffs. Secunda , Klerksdorp and Johannesburg are in the running to host the national playoffs.

"The Mille Cup epitomises integration as it is the only competitive cup catering for both primary and secondary schools in the general education and training phase and it is a catalyst for pure and true development."

The schools that have qualified for the Mpumalanga provincial playoffs are Langa High School (Bushbuckridge), Ithafa Secondary School (Gert Sibande) and Leonard Ntshuntsha High School (Enkangala). The school that will represent the Ehlanzeni region will be decided tomorrow.
