Three men appeared briefly in the KaBokweni magistrate's court yesterday on charges of murder.
This follows the death of an 18-year-old who was shot dead after an armed robbery at a tavern in Mpumalanga at the weekend.
Gabriel Monareng, Malindela Mkhabela and Tsepo Monareng, all in their early 20s, were not asked to plead and were remanded in custody until their next appearance next month.
Hazyview police spokesman Constable Mpho Koli said the three allegedly entered the Emnotweni tavern in Shabalala Trust near Hazyview on Saturday night.
"They allegedly pointed firearms at customers and searched them for cash and other valuables.
Sydney Khoza was shot dead when he refused to be searched.
The police scoured the area after the thugs had fled.
They spotted an old sedan that sped off as soon as they approached.
The police gave chase and the three were arrested a while later.
