Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (Sascoc) head Moss Mashishi stuck to his guns yesterday and did not a ppear before the parliamentary portfolio committee on sport .

He previously said that he would not attend committee hearings until its chairman, Butana Komphela, was removed after he described Sascoc as a body led "by whites and Indians who did not understand transformation and who lack vision".

Yesterday a tabled letter from Mashishi to Komphela said Komphela's view was "racist, derogatory and utterly repugnant".

In a reference to a threat to subpoena Sascoc, Mashishi said: "The fact that parliament has certain constitutional powers has never been in contention. However, our members also have constitutional rights which have been violated by your comments."
