Sowetan published a report yesterday about a Vaal teacher from hell who is on the run after being accused of branding pupils with a hot knife, pricking them with needles, pouring hot tea over them, throwing stones at them and beating them with a piece of pipe.

No sane person could condone what she did to mere babies who failed to solve a mathematics problem.

We all know our teachers are under stress but they can never be allowed to take their often legitimate frustrations out on our kids.

Once the cops apprehend her, as they surely will, the law must make an example of her. Scofflaws like her must be weeded out of the profession if we ever hope to achieve a sane society.
