KwaZulu-Natal police have arrested three people, including a domestic worker and gardener, in Estcourt after a woman was robbed of household goods and cash in Durban last Thursday.

Police recovered clothes, a laptop, two digital cameras, some US dollars and a Toyota Corolla.

It is alleged that the complainant was in her house in Durban North when three suspects, including her gardener, entered her house, tied her up with a rope and locked her in a bedroom before ransacking the house.

Police spokesman Jay Naicker said the complainant allegedly asked her domestic helper to press a panic button, but she did not.

Naicker said the victim was later freed by her husband and a case of robbery was opened.

"A joint operation between police in Estcourt and the provincial house robbery task team was conducted on Monday. The operation led to the arrest of three suspects in Estcourt, including the gardener and domestic helper. Another suspect is still on the run," Naicker said.

The suspects will face charges of robbery in the Durban North magistrate's court today.
