Kaizer Chiefs are not concerned about results in the pre-season tournaments and are building a team for the future.

This is according to Amakhosi public relations officer Siya Makhunga, who took the media by surprise with his utterances after his side was drawn against the star-studded Mamelodi Sundowns in the second semifinal of the Telkom Charity Cup at Mmabatho Stadium at noon on Saturday.

Orlando Pirates face Platinum Stars in the day's opener at 10am.

An obviously nervous Makhunga said: "This game is not about results, but to build a strong side to compete against the best in the league.

"But we're not going there to be like sheep to the slaughter, but to fight against our opponents."

The Brazilians' media liaison officer, Mahlatse Mphahlele was confident they would reclaim their title.

"We didn't play last season because of some confusion, but now that we're no longer in the CAF [Confederation] Cup, we're going all out to win this one," he said.

"We had a good run in this tournament in the past three seasons, and it was only last season that we were not part of it, that is why it was won by Bloemfontein Celtic.

"It's unfortunate that Celtic won't be there, but we'll win the final."

Mphahlele said they will be displaying all their new acquisitions.

"Our inclusion gives us the opportunity to play Chiefs in the final. This time it is going to be war," Orlando Pirates spokesman Mickey Modisane said. "Although this competition is a season opener we'll be going for broke."

Platinum Stars' public relations officer Aubrey Molobi said: "It's an honour for us to play against top teams such as Pirates. We're aware that they are highly experienced but they will be playing against youngsters from our development.

"We don't believe in buying big name players. We have acquired [Godfrey] Sapula to motivate the youngsters and we believe that we'll do well in this tournament."

Gates open at 8am and the first 10000 fans will receive T-shirts and caps.
