Comedy has taken off in a big way in South Africa and shows such as Blacks Only and 99% Zulu have kept audiences in stitches.
Now the Soweto Comedy Festival hopes to make a lot more people laugh.
It takes place from August 1 until August 3 at Maponya Mall's Ster-Kinekor Cinema 4.
Organiser and top comedian Kedebone Mulaudzi says: "We have been planning this event for the past three years. It is long overdue. People have been asking when we are going to have our own comedy festival."
The festival has its origins in the Nubreed Comedy and Nubreed School of Comedy, which started four years ago. Nubreed Comedy is Mulaudzi'sbrainchild.
He explains: "I realised back then that nobody really catered for up-and-coming comedians and beginners.
"Nubreed Comedy's home-base was the now-defunct Horror Cafe in Newtown, Johannesburg."
The line-up includes: Trevor Noah, Eugene Khoza, Thomas Gumede, Mthunzi Ntoyi, John Vlismas, Tshepo Mogale, Joey Rasdien, Al Prodgers and Roni Modimola, DJ AK, Siya-B, Mthunzi Ntoyi, Mr-T the comic, Dale, Mum-Z, Nqoba Ngcobo, Hysterical Russ, Trevor Gumbi, Chris Mapane, Pastor Mbhobho and Pravesh.
Mulaudzi says: "We started the initiative because we wanted to give young stand-up and up-and-coming comedians a chance to prove themselves.
"Comics came to the Horror Cafe to perform and to try out new material."
Mulaudzi says the festival is unique because it incorporates top stand-up and up-and-coming comedians.
