The ANC-led Ndwedwe local municipality yesterday dismissed its municipal manager, Bongani Thabethe, with immediate effect for financial misconduct.
Communications manager Ncamy Zwane said Thabethe had been suspended since December.
"He (irregularly) paid Magic Communications a sum of R210000 for IDP road shows," Zwane said.
Thabethe was also found guilty of paying Siyangohliswa Trading more than R11000 for videos and photos without following procedures.
Zwane said the total amount that the municipality lost was more than R500000.
