Four women's cricket squads will compete in the Pro20 Women's Super 4's tournament at Potchefstroom in North West on Saturday and Sunday.

The squads have been selected by the national selectors from the affiliates and three other associate members of Cricket South Africa last month.

Max Jordaan, CSA's senior amateur cricket manager, said the introduction of the inaugural tournament would assist in bridging the gap between the provincial competitions and international participation.

"It would therefore be an ideal platform to identify the future women international players," said Jordaan

Noor Rhode, the national coach, has praised CSA for organising the first regional tournament because it will help them to identify the best players for the future.

The national team is set to embark on a tour of England. They take on Ireland in a one-day international match at Wellington College next Thursday.

Saturday's fixtures: Witrand: West Coast v East Coast (10am); East Coast v Central (2pm).

Defence Force: Central v Highveld (10am); Highveld v West Coast (2pm).

Sunday: Witrand: West Coast v Central (10am).

The final and plate match will be played on Sunday from 2pm.
