Johannesburg Central police have finally released a photograph of a man they want to question in connection with the execution-style killing of a key state witness in a case involving two policemen.

Lindiwe Mthembu was shot dead in central Johannesburg, three days before she was to give evidence in a corruption, extortion, and defeating the ends of justice case involving the two policemen.

They are inspectors Sean Twala, 40, of Parktown police station, and Tello Mota, 39, of the Johannesburg Central police station.

The case has since been struck off the roll because other witnesses had withdrawn their statements, fearing for their lives.

Mthembu, 37, was killed at her Buckley Court flat in January.

She was a member of a committee of flat dwellers fighting crime, theft and corruption, and was supposed to give evidence against the two policemen.

Another woman who was to testify in the same case went into hiding after she was threatened - a day after Mthembu's death.

Police are now looking for a man known only as Mr Dlodlo. Inspector Xoli Mbele appealed to Dlodlo to come forward to assist with their investigations.

Mbele urged anyone with information to contact police toll-free number 10111 or Inspector Marius Zeelie on 082-940-7255.
