There are 103 days left before matric pupils sit for their final examinations.

Pupils will start with English first paper and computer application technology on November 3. The exams will end on December 3 with mathematics paper 3 and electrical technology.

This year's exam will be different in that pupils will write the new National Certificate Statement.

According to the new curriculum pupils must enrol for seven subjects and achieve at least 40percent in three subjects and 30percent in four subjects to pass.

The aggregate mark is not considered in deciding whether pupils pass or not. This is done to ensure that pupils pass at least six of the seven subjects and all pupils take maths or maths literacy.

The latest minimum requirements were announced on July 11. They stipulate that pupils have to obtain at least 30percent in the language of learning and teaching of the university of their choice.
