Distinctive, perky and truly elegant

The Mitsubishi Lancer 2,0 GLS sedan is now available with the option of a sophisticated constantly variable transmission (CVT).

As the only vehicle in its class equipped with such an advanced transmission the newcomer offers a combination of two-pedal motoring with Mitsubishi's willing and refined all-aluminium 2,0-litre DOHC engine.

With 114 kW at 6000 revs and 199 Nm at 4250 there is plenty of power at hand.

Mitsubishi's intention was to give the two-pedal Lancer a distinctive character and the "Sport" mode does that by not only turning the CVT into a transmission with six distinct ratios, but by allowing the driver to take complete charge of the gear selection process.

The Lancer CVT will accelerate to 100 kmh in 10,3 seconds before reaching a true top speed of 200kmh.

The CVT version shares the same specs as the GLS manual, which means power-assisted rack and pinion steering, MP3-compatible tuner-CD with four speakers and steering wheel satellite controls, automatic air conditioning, wipers with variable intermittent function, alarm/ immobiliser, trip computer, 60-40 split rear seat with centre armrest incorporating two cup holders, and chromed inner door handles.

Safety credentials include all-disc brakes with ABS, EBD and brake assist, dual-stage frontal and air bags.

Its retail price is R197000, which includes a 5-yr-100000km service plan.
