Black Aces give Musasa the boot

Kabamba "He Man" Musasa is looking for a new team as Mpumalanga Black Aces have not renewed his contract.

"It's true that I'm out of contract. As I speak now I'm in Maritzburg [in Kwa-Zulu Natal] with my family and I'm training on my own," he told Sowetan yesterday.

Musasa said he did not know why Aces failed to renew his contract.

"I played very well last season, featuring in almost all the games. I was looking forward to be part of Aces this coming season," he said.

He suspects, though, that the problem could have started after their Nedbank Cup final against Mamelodi Sundowns.

"We were given a break for a week. And when we returned to prepare for the Mpumalanga Premier's International Cup I approached Peter [Koutroulis], Aces' chief executive, about negotiating for a new contract but he said we will talk later. And when I approached him again he said they have already met their foreign quota in the team," he said.

"I then packed my belongings and left. At the moment I'm looking for a team, either in the Premiership or First Division," said Musasa.

Koutroulis responded that they want to build a new strike-force: "Kabamba is a good player but we are trying to give other players a chance."

The club also confirmed that they have parted ways with Edelbert Dinha.

They have also loaned striker Emmanuel Emenike to FC Cape Town on a one-year deal. Others who have been released are goalkeeper Tsietsi Diale, Tornado Mogale, Mongezi Bhobe and Isaac Mabotse.

Veterans Felix Musasa, Michael Babale and Esau Mtsweni have extended their stay for a year.

Thabo "T-Bose" Moroape said their new signings include Swaziland international Sibusiso Dlamini, Bhekithemba Ndlovu (Platinum Stars), Songwe Chalwe (Moroka Swallows), Nondodana Sibanda (GaRankuwa United) and Godfrey Nobula (Winners Park).

Aces will go to Gauteng today for a 10-day pre-season training camp at an unspecified venue.
