England finally bowled out South Africa for 522, conceding a monstrous 294-run lead on day three of the Leeds Test yesterday.

AB de Villiers made a quite brilliant 174 in eight-and-a-half hours as England's exhausted bowlers were forced to toil away for 176,2 overs.

Just one wicket fell in the morning session, when Ashwell Prince was caught behind off Darren Pattinson for 149.

After lunch, De Villiers put on 67 with Mark Boucher and 84 with Paul Harris, who survived a nasty rap on the hand.

De Villiers, who was booed to the crease on Saturday after claiming a catch that was grounded the day before, played an unusually patient innings.

England were batting when we went to print, having scored 25 runs for the loss of one wicket. - BBC and Reuters
