Orlando Pirates and official sportswear supplier, adidas, will unveil their newly designed range for the 2008-2009 season during the Vodacom Challenge.

The range consists of three new designs: a home jersey (black, or red, or white), an away jersey (red, or white) and a third jersey (white, or black) that will be used for Cup competitions.

The new home jersey is a combination of the club's black heritage with a touch of red added to the collar and underarm.

The away jersey comes in an eye-catching red, which Nkosana Khoza, the Bucs marketing manager, believes will be a hot favourite among the supporters this season.

"While it is important to commemorate and acknowledge our history, it is equally important for us to embrace the future," Khoza said.

"The design and choice of colour for the away kit is a result of intensive research and discussion conducted among ourselves and adidas. Orlando Pirates have a great tradition of setting the trend in kit design and to continue doing so this year, we decided to push the envelope a bit more by introducing this daring red number."

The jersey, designed by adidas, features innovative "ClimaCool technology" with engineered mesh in the front and mesh inserts under the arm for body temperature regulation. - Sowetan
