KwaZulu-Natal has formed a provincial arts and culture forum to grow the relationship between artists and the department of arts, culture and tourism in the province.
The partnership will benefit artists and improve the channels of communication between artists and the department. It will also ensure that there is an art centre in each district municipality to maximise service delivery.
The forum will deal with artists and culture activists in the province and act as an advisory structure to the department, assist in planning and the implementation of programmes and projects and also act as a link between artists and the department.
MEC Weziwe Thusi launched the forum in Durban at the weekend.
"The department will be able to easily access artists and be accessible to artists as well," she said.
