Farewell to a good man and best friend

He was a friend in need and in deed. Very honest and harmless, he could not say boo to a goose.

That was Johannes "Sanaga" Mokgoloboto of White City Jabavu, who died at his home on Friday morning.

On the day he died I was having a bout of flu and was on my way to see the doctor. My intention had been to visit him afterwards but while I was waiting for the doctor I received a phone call: "Your bosom friend is no more."

I was flabbergasted and did not know what to do. I immediately went to his home, where I was greeted by mourners who came to comfort his wife.

I knew then I had lost the best of all friends. I felt bad because he had called me days earlier but I was unable to visit him.

Mokgoloboto was born in Mofolo Village in 1952.

He started his schooling at Mehloding Lower Primary School and then attended Isaacson Higher Primary.

He later worked for Partley Brothers before joining Pistorial Press, a printing company where he worked for 25 years.

He took ill while working for Gold Reef City Casino and was in and out of hospital until his death on July 11. He is survived by his wife, son, five brothers and a sister.

Mokgoloboto, of 417A Tjabane Street in White City, Jabavu, will be buried at the Avalon Cemetery tomorrow. The service will be held at home from 7am.
