Azapo yesterday distanced itself from an announcement this week by black consciousness leaders about the launching of a new party this weekend.
On Tuesday BCM Leadership Forum leaders said the new party would be launched this weekend.
Forum leader Ben Khoapa said they had consulted broadly and it was time to launch the party.
But yesterday Azapo general secretary Strike Thokoane said the Khoapa's statement had put a spanner in the works.
"As far as Azapo is concerned unity discussions among itself, the Socialist Party of Azania and the Black People's Convention are still in place," he said.
