A group of Limpopo primary school children will jet off to Norway at the weekend to take part in an international football tournament.

Jakamene Primary School in Mokopane will take part in the Norway Cup after winning the South African tournament against 15 other schools in April in Sekhukhune.

This was confirmed by the trainer and manager of Sports' Coaches Outreach (Score) in Limpopo, Risimati Eric Makondo.

The project is a partnership between the Norway Cup, the Norwegian Agency for Development Co-operation and the Norwegian Olympic Committee and Confederation of Sports.

This is the largest international schools football tournament in the world and is held in Oslo every year.

The Norway Cup is open to all schools and is affiliated to Fifa via any national football association.

Last year the Peres Centre for Peace organised a football "match for peace" between a mixed Palestinian and Israeli team on the one hand, and a team of Andalucian soccer stars from the Spanish Premiere League on the other.
