The ANC provincial conference scheduled for this weekend in Mpumalanga has been postponed to next month.

The ANC provincial conference scheduled for this weekend in Mpumalanga has been postponed to next month.

The conference, which was scheduled to take place at the Badplaas Aventura Resort in the Gert Sibande municipality, will now take place from August 15 to 17.

Provincial ANC spokesman Paul Mbenyane yesterday confirmed that the conference was postponed because the province was not ready.

"After a thorough assessment, we realised we were not ready, especially since a number of branches had not yet gone to their general meetings where they would have to nominate delegates to represent them in the conference," said Mbenyane.

Those vying for the chairmanship position are MEC for agriculture David Mabuza and Mbombela municipality mayor Lassy Chiwayo, while Charles Makola, chairman for ANC Nkangala region, is standing for the deputy chairman's position.
