The Zulu royal household says it will not back down from its earlier attack on Malegapuru Makgoba, vice-chancellor and principal of the University of KwaZulu-Natal, for suggesting that King Shaka was a "dictator".
It says it is still waiting for an apology for the reference that it says is "defaming" and will not give up.
Royal spokesman Prince Mbonisi Zulu accused Makgoba of "insulting the great emperor and the Zulu nation as a whole".
