Sparks are bound to fly when the Thomas "Zero My Hero" Johnson Winter Games reach the quarterfinal stage at the Dona's Mates Grounds, Extension 8A in Orange Farm on Saturday, starting from 8am.

The maiden tournament, which has been running since June 20, features the Under-13s, Under-15s, Under-17s and senior categories.

James "Maradona" Shabangu, tournament director, said the event is hosted by Dona's Mates Youth Development project in honour of the legendary player.

Johnson, the dynamic former Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs striker, is director of coaching at Dona's Mates Football Academy.

The outsiders, Bloemfontein Celtic Colts and Magic Touch from KwaZulu-Natal, have been performing superbly so far in the group stages.

They have won three games each and look set to go all the way to the semifinals billed for Sunday (July 20) and final on July 27 at the same venue.
