The conference is scheduled to take place at the University of Venda in Thohoyandou from Thursday to Sunday.
At issue is who is to take over the chairmanship of the party in the province.
The frontrunners, incumbent Sello Moloto and provincial secretary Cassel Mathale, have been spending sleepless nights trying to convince their followers to vote for them.
The successful candidate is also expected to become premier of the province after next year's general elections.
