Ronnie Schloss, the Premier Soccer League (PSL's) chief operations officer, says they have noted the complexity in the makeup of the National First Division, which will be addressed at the executive meeting on July 31.
Schloss said yesterday they were confident that the issue of the NFD streams will be resolved by the board of governors before the league kicks off on August 30.
He said the board agreed in their last meeting that the NFD will continue as such in the new season.
But Peter Koutroulis, Mpumalanga Black Aces' chief executive, said the PSL should revert to the old format of one national league to avoid complications.
"The current set-up frustrates the teams, especially when it comes to the playoffs that determine the clubs for promotion to the elite league," said Koutroulis yesterday.
"The feelings of the majority of the club officials that I speak to regularly about this issue is that they should revert to the old system."
Pat Malabela, Dynamos' boss, said: "The issue of the split was agreed upon by club bosses of both the NFD and the Premiership clubs.
"If we feel that the set-up is not working we should follow the right channels and raise it within the PSL."
It is hoped that the PSL executive meeting will to come up with ways to balance the two streams.
There are 10 teams in the Inland Stream instead of eight due to the relegation of Black Leopards and Jomo Cosmos from the Premiership.
The Coastal Stream, on the other hand, has six clubs after the promotion of Maritzburg United and Bay United to the top flight.
