The Vodacom Challenge volunteer programme is set to stand by its customer-friendly slogan of "Exceeding Spectator Expectations in a Spectacular Way".

That is the message ahead of this year's tournament involving Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs and Manchester United, taking place from next weekend.

The volunteer programme, managed by tournament promoter Sail, will provide spectators with the ultimate level of customer care on match days.

With a large percentage of the 750-odd volunteers having assisted on the 2007 Vodacom Challenge and other international sports events in South Africa, and with this year's group set to undergo a day of training for the event, supporters can be assured of being assisted in a courteous and professional manner.

A total of 200 volunteers will be on duty at each venue when Kaizer Chiefs take on Manchester United at Newlands Stadium in Cape Town on Saturday, July 19 (15.30pm kickoff), for the showdown between Orlando Pirates and Manchester United at Absa Stadium in Durban on July 22 (20.10pm kickoff) and at the grand finale between the English club and either Orlando Pirates or Kaizer Chiefs at Loftus Versfeld on July 26 (15.30pm kickoff).

A total of 150 volunteers will assist with the day's proceedings at EPRU Stadium in Port Elizabeth on July 24 (20.10pm kickoff) with the winners of the fixture progressing to the final.

"As promoters of the Vodacom Challenge, Sail is delighted to drive the spirit of volunteerism through all aspects of our international event in the hope that it will give confidence and empower many of the individuals involved, as they go forward into other walks of life," said Brand de Villiers, CEO of the sponsors.
