l l We live in one of the fastest-changing societies in the world. Think about South Africa 10 years ago and how it is today. Understand how the world is changing.

l See problems as opportunities. Where others see problems, entrepreneurs identify opportunities.

l Turn the world upside down. Check out the world from a different angle. Hey, you can even stand on your head every now and then for a different view. Try to see things with an openI mind.

l Create opportunities for yourself. What are the things you would love to have in your life that you know don't exist yet?

l Broaden your horizons. Read books you wouldn't normally read. Be curious. Research. Whatever you do, don't just sit there!

l Learn from local gurus. Ask them to share their secrets of success with you.

l Technology is developing at a magnificent speed. Even if you don't invent something yourself, you might find a creative way to sell or market a new invention. Start innovating. Now!

l Let your life be ruled by this slogan: "I can!" Lose the words "impossible", "too harsh", "eish, I can't", "are you mad?" and so on.

l Another smart code: "Testing 1, 2, 3 ..." From now on, bounce your Smart Ideas off people you trust. If they think you are crazy, then you could be on the right track!

l And, keep a diary for your own D-Day. List your Smart Ideas and rate each idea out of 10. One of these might be the ultimate brainwave.
