Fight publicist Terry Pettifer has declared next Tuesday night's eight-bout programme as the "Golden Gloves Class of 2008".

It features rising stars from that consortium at Emperors Palace's Theatre of Marcellus.

The fighters are Warren Joubert, Hekkie Budler, Jared Lovert, Thomas Oosthuizen, Kyle Bothma, Gabriel Dlamini, Isaac Chilembe and Zakhele Thembe. Grant Fourie and Owethu Mbira were to appear in other bouts but they were laid low by a bout of flu.

Golden Gloves boss, promoter Rodney Berman, praised his matchmaker Reuben Rasodi for assembling "a fine array of promising young talent".

Pettifer said Joubert, nicknamed "The Warrior", will top the bill with an eight-rounder against Joseph Modise in the junior lightweight class.

Fiery junior flyweight campaigner Budler "The Hexecutioner" will be hoping to keep his unbeaten record against Ronald Parks over six rounds while "The Storm" Lovett will fight Ben Moakamela in the light heavyweight division over four rounds.

"Tommy Gun" Oosthuizen will fight Takalani Maluleke in the middleweight division, Bothma will meet Vuyani Dosi in the junior featherweight ranks while Dlamini will fight Tyson Shlhakuma in the lightweight class. All three bouts will be over four rounds.

Malawian "Golden Boy" Chilembe from the Nick Durandt stable will fight David Bassajamulle in the super middleweight division over six rounds while Thembe will make his professional debut in the heavyweight division against Mongezi Ndzamela over four rounds.

This development tournament will be bankrolled by Gree Air Conditioners.
