Hours before the UN Security Council was to vote on whether to impose sanctions on Zimbabwe, South Africa yesterday called for further dialogue in that country.

A government official said: "The resolution of Sharm el-Sheikh (in Egypt) supported the call for a government of national unity.

"It urged the parties to get into a dialogue as soon as possible. South Africa is hoping a resolution can be implemented so that there can be a government of national unity." - Sapa
