Popular Vosloorus bodybuilder and weightlifter Khanyile Ndukuzikayise has died, leaving a void that will be difficult to fill in the community and the sport.

A humble man, Ndukuzikayise was born in Boksburg on November 27 1961 and died of natural causes at the Katlehong Hospital in Ekurhuleni on July 7.

He attended Fortune Kunene Primary School in Vosloorus and completed his matric at Illinge High in 1980. Hestudied engineering science, technical drawing and computers at Wits Tech.

After graduating he joined National Bolts in Boksburg and became a CNC Setter machine operator for five years. When the opportunity of becoming a senior machine operator presented itself at Pitmans and Master Batch he moved.

Described as a perfect gentleman and a staunch member of the Christ Ambassadors Church, he was an usher in church. He always preached that "peace begins with us as a small village or township and then transcends into a spiral of metropole peacefulness".

He won many bodybuilding and weightlifting competitions in Ekurhuleni and around Gauteng. When he stopped competing his pastime was keeping fit.

Morgan Thwala this week described his brother-in-law as a pillar of the family.

"Even during the most trying times he kept his family united," Thwala said. "We will miss his unifying presence and commanding authority."

Ndukuzikayise is survived by his wife, five children, parents and seven siblings.

He will be buried at the Rondebult Cemetery tomorrow. The service will be held at the Christ Ambassadors Church in Vosloorus at 10am.
