I am a Zimbabwean from Matabeleland. Some people from Durban might not know that there are thousands of amaZulu people in Matabeleland who came from Zululand in the 11th century, and who still practice the isiZulu culture and speak isiZulu.

I read in Sowetan that Umlazi authorities named a street after one of Africa's worst tyrants and killers, Robert Mugabe. Shame on those responsible. Do they know how many amaNdebele, amaZulu, Xhosa, Basotho and Kalanga people he killed in the 1980s? His army, made up of recruits from his Shona tribe, slaughtered 20000 Ndebele for supporting Joshua Nkomo.

All amaZulu people must oppose the renaming. Honour Mangosuthu Buthelezi or any South African hero instead.
