The South African Human Rights Commission claims it ensures that rights enshrined in the Constitution are available to all in South Africa.

The South African Human Rights Commission claims it ensures that rights enshrined in the Constitution are available to all in South Africa.

But its failure to act decisively on statements made by Julius Malema and Zwelinzima Vavi shows it only fights for the rights of ANC members.

When people demonstrate for their rights to free basic services, the police are sent to arrest and shoot them. The SAHRC says nothing.

Azapo members in Ekurhuleni face trumped-up charges. It says nothing about this political persecution.

Official complaints of election fraud lodged by opposition parties in Gauteng in the 2006 local election were ignored by the IEC. The SAHRC said nothing.

What kind of democracy arrests people on false charges and shoots unarmed demonstrators without provocation? And what kind of human rights body ignores human rights violations?

It is clear from statements by the Sanco-aligned Alexandra Concerned Residents Forum that foreign nationals should not return to Alex, that Sanco is responsible for the xenophobic attacks in Gauteng.

Our people should be prosperous, but most black people live in poverty because the ANC has not redistributed wealth.
