Moroka Swallows went into a week-long training camp in Port Elizabeth yesterday in preparation for the new season.

This was after Volkswagen South Africa recommitted itself to the Birds by announcing a new three-year deal with the club.

The announcement was made by Matt Gennrich, general manager of the company, recently.

Leon Prins, chief executive of the Birds, said they were absolutely thrilled when the car company came on board three years ago and were proud when they renewed their title sponsorship until 2011.

"The relationship between the team and Volkswagen has grown from strength to strength and as a result, the club has been able to continuously strive for improvement, both on and off the field.

"The sponsors have shown confidence and trust in Swallows to utilise the club as a vehicle to leverage their brand," Prins said.

Swallows are seeking to return to great heights and have refurbished their nest .

Prins said tomorrow's planned match against Bay United was called off because the Port Elizabeth side is facing FC AK in the National First Division playoffs on the day.
