They had also lied about their ages.
Golden Arrows executive Mato Madlala was livid when she saw a "goalkeeper who has been 15 years old for years" at the event.
The pain of this malady was soothed when Kaizer Chiefs pulled out of an under-15 competition and expelled a few boys who had claimed to be younger in order to qualify.
Parents must take the rap. Children have to be monitored and nurtured.
We can also fire officials for conniving in this fraud.
But the damage has already been done to the children. We have already told them it is right to cheat, diminishing the importance of fair and enjoyable competition in sport.
It's time to punish parents for creating a club of cheats.
