Legendary UK folk band Magna Carta will wow South Africa.

Magna Carta started its tour on Wednesday at the Newcastle Folk Club in KwaZulu-Natal.

Today the group performs at Smokey Swallows in East London, Eastern Cape. On Wednesday they take to the stage in the George Arts Theatre, Western Cape.

The group wraps up its tour on July 20 in Pietermaritzburg's Botanical Gardens.

Music lovers will have a chance to see a live performance by what is arguably the greatest acoustic act in the world today.

After a memorable 40 years Magna Carta is still undoubtedly the greatest living protagonist of English folk music.

Hailing from the north of England it was founded in April 1969 by Chris Simpson, Lyell Tranter and Glen Stuart.

With classics such as Seasons, Lord of the Ages and Putting it Back Together, Magna Carta's significance is difficult to question.

Tickets are available at Computicket and from the various venues.
