The entertainment spotlight fell on North West on Saturday night as thousands of gospel music lovers descended on the Sun City Superbowl in Rustenburg for the annual Joyous Celebration performance.

A chilly wind did not stop gospel enthusiasts from watching the award-winning choral group.

Young and old came out in numbers to receive a dose of spiritual upliftment.

Apart from some organisational hiccups, the place came alive when the group stepped on to on stage, sending the audience into a frenzy.

The group gave gospel enthusiasts five hours of energetic spiritual blessing.

Known for its inspiring approach, Joyous Celebration gave a magnificent performance.

The audience sang along to most of the group's songs while enjoying themselves.

Having released its 12th album early this year the group launched the tour during Easter at the State Theatre in Pretoria. Since then it has performed to packed audiences in venues in Eastern Cape and Durban.

Joyous also paid tribute to late gospel artist Vuyo Mokoena, who had worked with the group for seven years.

The group performed most of Mokoena' songs.

With its concept of soul-stirring music and spiritual ecstasy, the group has come a long way since its formation in 1996.

In the process the group has discovered the most amazing talent in Mzansi.
